About
Learn more about Nico SmeetsMy name is Nico Smeets, originally born in the city of Antwerp in Belgium. After a long career in Tennis I fell in love with the game... or better sport of Snooker. In 1998, I officially started playing on the Belgian amateur scene, with surprisingly instant success, winning some regional open tournaments and getting to the latter stages of provincial ranking tournaments.
This kickstarted my passion, hunger and belief Snooker was in it for the long run! Despite the fact that at times, like with every passion, I had a love&hate relationship with the sport. Realising only much later that it was the burning proof why it means soo much to me and all others who play this amazing sport..
Playing less tournaments in the last few years, due to other committments, has not weakened my desire to make a comeback one day! I feel the time is right to prove myself, family, friends, partners, sponsors as well as the critics that age is just a number.
The sport has seen a huge revival in the last 5 years due to the efforts of Barry Hearn, WorldSnooker and Eurosport.
But also thanks to the contribution of Jason Francis in establishing The World Seniors Tour.
There is no better time in the history of the game to be part of the sports' globalization and professionalism!
As a member of the class of ‘98 I still Dare To Dream!

Matchplay
Contact me for a private match"To me, match play is do-or-die. Either I win or I lose. I kind of like that format."
I strongly believe that practising against different style and level of opponents will benefit my game tremendously.
I am also convinced that matchplay in "tournament style conditions" and "playing for something" is the only way of getting a quality practise session. Players need to feel and recognize that typical "pressure" to be able to perform at their best.
